For the safety of our members and their loved ones, we are temporarily postponing all in-person events.
We hope you stay healthy and safe. Stay tuned for updates.
National Office News
As we respond to rapidly changing developments in the COVID-19 pandemic, Phi Beta Kappa is committed to protecting the health of our members first and foremost. Our chapters will still invite and register students and we are working to provide resources for virtual induction ceremonies. Our associations will be following CDC and local guidelines on events. While we may be challenged in getting together in person over the coming weeks, we know that students will still become members, and associations will return to stellar programming as soon as safely possible.
This is a great time to experience Phi Beta Kappa virtually. Join us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn for vibrant content and community, including podcasts and virtual book groups. Also, take a minute to share your induction story. We’d love to hear your Phi Beta Kappa memories and share them with our newest members.
Another good source of connection is our Behind the Key feature, which showcases a PBK member continuing to embody the spirit of lifelong learning. This month’s member is Dominique Earland, who shared with us what brought her to work in clinical epidemiology and how her service work shaped her academic interests. You can read her interview here!
We’ve also been excited about our new class of Visiting Scholars. Although many events featuring our 2019-2020 Visiting Scholars have been postponed, we look forward to rescheduling them for next year. We want to remind you that our 2020-2021 Visiting Scholars are available for requests through April 20, 2020. The 2020-2021 group features 16 distinguished scholars from across the academic spectrum, with specialties ranging from evolutionary ornithology to moral philosophy, number theory to urban policing, and more. You can learn more about our 2020-2021 Visiting Scholars here. Please keep an eye on our Event Calendar to see when a Visiting Scholar will be visiting a school near you. As always, their lectures are free and open to the public, and a wonderful way to spread the word about Phi Beta Kappa.
Please be well and contact if we can be of assistance!
